Last Updated: July 2, 2024

1. Introduction

Welcome to Elvis: Conversation Analyzer ("the Extension"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data with transparency. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and store it, and your rights in relation to it.

This policy is designed to comply with the Google Chrome Web Store's User Data Policy. Our guiding principle is that your data belongs to you, and we will only use it to provide and improve the service you signed up for.

2. The Single Purpose of the Extension

The sole purpose of Elvis: Conversation Analyzer is to record, transcribe, and analyze your Google Meet conversations to generate insightful reports. All data collection and processing is strictly limited to achieving this user-facing feature.

3. Data We Collect and How We Use It

To provide our service, we must collect and handle specific types of data. We are explaining each type in detail below.

a. User Account Information

What we collect: When you register or log in, we collect your email address and a securely hashed version of your password. After you log in, we store an authentication token within the extension on your local device.

Why we collect it: To create and secure your account, authenticate your access to our service, and allow you to access your past reports.

b. Audio and Video Recordings (Personal and Sensitive Data)

What we collect: With your explicit permission and direct action (i.e., when you click the "Record" button), the Extension captures:

  • Audio from the Google Meet tab.
  • Audio from your computer's microphone.
  • Video from the Google Meet tab (if you enable this option).

Why we collect it: This is the core data required for the Extension's single purpose. The recording is uploaded to our secure servers to be transcribed and analyzed, which allows us to generate the detailed reports that are the primary feature of the service.

PROMINENT DISCLOSURE: To function, this extension MUST record your meeting and upload the recording to our servers for processing. This data is handled securely and is never shared with third parties for advertising or any purpose other than providing the analysis service to you.
c. User-Provided Meeting Context

What we collect: You may optionally provide additional context for your meetings to improve report accuracy. This can include:

  • Text that you paste into the context field.
  • Files (such as PDFs or DOCX documents) that you upload.

Why we collect it: This information is used exclusively to enhance the AI's understanding of the meeting's content, leading to more accurate and relevant analysis in your final report.

d. User Settings and Technical Data

What we collect: We store your preferences, such as the default language for analysis or your chosen report template, using the browser's local storage. We do not collect your general web browsing history.

Why we collect it: To provide a customized and seamless user experience each time you use the extension.

4. Data Use and Transfer Limitations

We are committed to using your data responsibly and with a narrow scope.

  • We DO NOT use your data for advertising purposes.
  • We DO NOT use your data for credit-worthiness or lending decisions.
  • We WILL NOT sell your data to third parties, data brokers, or any other affiliates.

The transfer of data is strictly for the purpose of providing or improving the core feature of the extension (generating meeting reports).

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personally identifiable information. The audio/video recordings and context files you provide are uploaded to our secure backend service, hosted at elvis.thefabrica.net, for processing. This is a necessary step to provide the transcription and analysis service.

We may only disclose your information in these limited circumstances:

  • To Comply with the Law: If required by a legal process, subpoena, or valid request from a government or law enforcement agency.
  • With Your Explicit Consent: If you direct us to share your data with a third-party service.

6. Data Security

We take the security of your data very seriously.

  • All data transmitted between the extension and our servers is encrypted using modern, secure protocols (HTTPS/TLS).
  • Your authentication token is stored locally and securely.
  • We employ industry-standard security measures on our servers to protect your recordings and reports from unauthorized access.

7. User Rights and Data Management

You are in control of your data.

  • Access and Deletion: You can access and delete your past reports and recordings by logging into your account on our main website. If you wish to delete your entire account and all associated data, please contact us at the email address below.
  • Settings: You can manage your extension settings (like language or template) at any time through the extension's popup or options page.
  • Uninstalling: Uninstalling the extension will remove all locally stored data, including your authentication token and settings.

8. Children's Privacy

Our service is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
